Energy products

Vegetable oils and fats are an important constituent of feed rations. In terms of nutritional physiology they play an important role in feeding because they increase the energy density of the feed – they possess 2.3 times as much energy as carbohydrates. The biological importance of fats stems from their function as an energy reserve and thermoregulator in the form of depot fat. Fats have a protective function, act as carriers for fat-soluble vitamins and bind the dust in feed.
